Catherine E. Galliher

Catherine E. Galliher, 79, of Mystic, beloved wife of the late Kenneth R. Galliher passed away Monday, February 25, 2013 at home surrounded by her family. Born in Norwood, MA she was the daughter of the late Thomas and Elizabeth O’Donnell. She was a Hostess at the Officers Club at the Sub Base for 25 years up until her retirement. Catherine was a member and past Regent of the Daughters of Isabella and was active in the Girl Scouts as assistant leader. She loved attending all of her grandchildren’s sporting events and was also an avid bingo player. She is survived by her three children, Peter Galliher and his wife, Karen, of Medway, MA, Therese O’Connor and her husband, Daniel, of Quaker Hill and Elizabeth Williams and her husband, Charles, of St. James, NY; three sisters, Nancy Holland and her husband, Thomas, of Springfield, MA, Mary O’Connor and her husband, Michael, of Springfield, MA and Barbara McLean and her husband, Randall, of Agawam, MA; five grandchildren, Sean and Christopher Galliher, Jennifer Galliher-Bruce and Catherine and Samantha Gallant; a great-grandson, Kenneth Bruce; and her beloved dog, Duchess. She was predeceased by her two aunts, Gertrude and Margaret Brady. Her family will receive friends Thursday, February 28th from 4-8 pm at the Mystic Funeral Home Route 1 Mystic (51 Williams Ave.) A funeral mass will be held Friday at 11:00 am at St. Mary Mother of the Redeemer Church 69 Groton Long Point Rd. Groton. Burial will follow at the Elm Grove Cemetery Route 27 Mystic. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the American Cancer Society (www.cancer.org) or to the CT Humane Society (www.cthumane.org) Please visit www.mysticfuneralhome.com to leave an online message of condolence.
